FFP2 Grade Protective Masks Market Overview

EN 149 is the European standard for testing filtered half masks covering the nose, mouth, and chin with inhalation and exhalation valves. Based on filtering efficiency, these masks are divided into three categories. FFP1, FFP2, and FFP3 are the three types of particle half masks defined by EN 149. The FFP2 mask, European mask standard en149:2001, safeguards the user from harmful aerosol, including dust, smoke, fog droplets, toxic gases, and toxic vapors through filter material adsorption, blocking, thus not being inhaled. These masks are divided into two categories – single-shift usage only masks and reusable masks. EN 149 specifies the performance requirements for the three classes of masks.

The respiratory protection mask, or simply respirator, is another name for the FFP2 mask. FFP2 masks differ from the other two categories in that they have an aerosol filtering rate of at least 94 % and an internal leak rate of 8% at most. Industries such as glass, foundry building, pharmaceutical, and the agriculture sector all employ these masks. N95 respirators come in two versions of the exhalation valve: one with a valve, and the other with filter layers and a strap. The latter is less expensive. However, it is less recommended because it causes respiratory difficulties. Exhalation valve masks make it easier to breathe and prevent sweating.
