Perfluoropolyether Market Overview:
The Global Perfluoropolyether Market is projected to be USD 412.9 Mn in 2022 to reach USD 588.0 Mn by 2032at a CAGR of 3.7%.
Market.US announces the publication of its most recently generated research report titled, “Global Perfluoropolyether Market by Product Type (PFPE Oil and PFPE Grease) By End-Use (Aerospace, Electronics, Chemicals, Automotive, & Other End-Uses) and by Region – Global Forecast to 2030”, which offers a holistic view of the Global Perfluoropolyether Market through systematic segmentation that covers every aspect of the target market.
Perfluoropolyether (PFPE) lubricants were first developed in the early 1960s and belong to the fluorinated synthetic fluid group. PFPE is only composed of carbon, fluorine, and oxygen, and different amounts of carbon and oxygen produce different characteristics. PFPE is a unique fluoropolymer that is a viscous liquid before curing at room temperature.
These products have lower surface energy, lower modulus, higher durability and toughness, higher air permeability and lower toxicity, and extremely high chemical resistance. Compared with other lubricants, PFPE is the least common and most expensive lubricant.
Perfluoropolyether (PFPE) oil is mainly used in high temperatures, chemicals, solvents, corrosion, toxicity, flammability, and other applications. PFPE lubricants are used at extreme temperatures ranging from −80°C to 200°C.
In the presence of certain building materials (especially non-passivated aluminum and titanium alloys), Perfluoropolyether may degrade at high temperatures (usually higher than 204°C / 400°F).
PFPE-based lubricants include a variety of lubricants that require extremely high durability and service life. These products are designed to have a wider temperature range than other lubricants.
PFPE-based grease can withstand temperatures from -70°C to 300°C or higher. According to the structure, there are four different PFPE fluids, such as PFPE-M, PFPE-K, PFPE-Z, and PFPE-Y.
These structural differences will affect the temperature resistance, the ability to prevent wear, lubrication, and fluid volatilization.
Most PFPE-based lubricants are neutral to conventional plastics and elastomers. PFPE base oil is odorless, compatible with most thermoplastics and rigid plastics, and helps reduce harmful noise at various friction points.
Global Perfluoropolyether Market Revenue (US$ Mn), 2021–2030
The growing demand for non-toxic, non-flammable, and corrosion-resistant lubricants in some end-use industries such as the automotive, aerospace, and electronics industries is expected to drive the growth of the target market.
In the past few years, due to its long-term lubrication, the demand for Perfluoropolyether has increased, which eliminates the need for regular lubrication of mechanical parts.
The aviation industry is continuing to grow, which can be attributed to strong passenger demand and increasing military expenditures. PFPE is used as an instrument bearing grease in the aerospace industry, as a joint bearing grease in aircraft fuel systems, and as a bearing for astronaut space suits.
Perfluoropolyether products are widely used in the aerospace industry due to their excellent performance in complex environments.
Lubricants and greases used in aircraft can reduce component failures, thereby extending component life and improving productivity. This factor is expected to increase the demand for Perfluoropolyether in the aerospace industry.
The COVID-19 outbreak has had a negative impact on almost every industrial sector, including production and manufacturing, and trading activities. Worldwide, the global supply chain of raw materials, intermediates, and final products has been severely disrupted. This leads to price fluctuations and sudden shortages of raw materials used to make final products (such as oils and fats).
