Proteinase k Market Overview:
The global proteinase k market is projected to be USD 23,168.3 Mn in 2022 to reach USD 42,964.8 Mn by 2032 at a CAGR of 6.4%.
Proteinase K is a highly active serine protease used for protein digestion and degradation of peptide bonds located next to a C-terminal of aromatic and aliphatic amino acids. Proteinase K is compatible with an extensive range of substrates during protein digestion. Its enzyme activity remains stable in the presence of calcium salts, whereas it increases when sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) or urea is present, which is known as a protein denaturant.
When up to 2% SDS or 4M urea is added to the reaction, proteinase K activity increases. It is also extensively used in the purification process of DNA and RNA. It helps eliminate undesirable enzymes that are harmful to DNA & RNA activity and produces high molecular genomic products. It rapidly inactivates the DNase and RNase to discontinue the degradation of RNA and DNA.
The global proteinase K market is segmented based on form, applications, end-use, and regions. In terms of form, proteinase K is segregated into lyophilized powder form and liquid form segments. The lyophilized powder segment grows exponentially as it can be easily stored for longer durations of time without affecting its product efficiency.
At the time of reaction, the required stock solution can be prepared by merely adding distilled water, which in turn, will help in reducing the product wastage. Concerning end-use, the biotechnology industry segment is projected to account for the majority revenue share of the global Proteinase K market due to increasing R&D activities and gene therapies to develop novel products. North America is slated to account for a high market revenue share, followed by Europe.
It can be attributed to the presence of key players in the respective region, advanced research infrastructure, and the availability of resources and advanced technologies in these regions. The Asia Pacific region is expected to emerge as the quickest-expanding market in terms of CAGR owing to improved manufacturing activities, growing awareness regarding food contamination, and increased R&D funding, especially in emerging economies like China and India.
Global Proteinase K Market Revenue (USD Mn), 2020–2030:
The rising prevalence rate of chronic diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the crucial drivers which is likely to drive the target market. Other factors contributing to the market growth are increasing investments in research activities, the rise in demand for gene therapy, and growing consumer awareness of Proteinase K. However, the availability of alternative products for DNA purification may hamper the proteinase K market’s revenue growth in the years to come.
Vigorous competition among local and multinational players operating in a respective market will lead to a reduction in the cost of proteinase K products, which in turn, will contribute to revenue growth of the proteinase K market.
