Market.US announces publication of its most recently generated research report titled, “Global Suture Market by Product Type (Absorbable, Non-Absorbable), By Material Type (Natural Fibers, Synthetic Fibers), By Application (Cardiovascular Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Gynecological Surgery, General Surgery, and Other Surgeries), By End User (Hospitals, Ambulatory Surgical Centers, Clinics, and Other End-Users), By Coating Material (Anti-Microbial Coating, Polytetrafluoroethylene, Paraffin Wax, and Other Coating Materials), and by Region – Global Forecast to 2030”, which offers a holistic view of the global Suture market through systematic segmentation that covers every aspect of the target market.
The global suture market is projected to be US$ 5,243.1 Mn in 2020 to reach US$ 8,417.2 Mn by 2030 at a CAGR of 5.0%.
A suture is sterile surgical threads used to stitch wounds caused by injury/ surgery. It is also used to stitch internal organs, skin, and other different human body tissues. The main types of sutures are absorbable and non-absorbable, with various characteristics (such as knot safety and tensile strength) depending on requirements and surgical procedures. An absorbable suture can be safely separated in tissues over time without intrusion. Non-absorbable sutures include substances that are not metabolized by the genetic movement of body tissues. Post healing of the wounds, medical practitioners are required to detach these non-absorbable sutures. The suture material is either made from synthetic materials and is natural. Absorbable sutures are commonly made of gut, poliglecaprone, and polyglactin, while non-absorbable sutures are made of nylon, silk, and polyester.
Over the last few years, significant progress has been made in developing sutures, such as developing different materials for sutures. Non-absorbable sutures with high biocompatibility, such as PTFE sutures, are usually easygoing and smooth and help prevent profound wound micro-damage and bacterial migration. Surgical knots made with PTFE sutures are strong and do not lose easily.

Global Suture Market Revenue (US$ Mn), 2020–2030
An increase in the number of surgical procedures globally being the key factor is expected to drive the market’s growth over the forecasted period. The increasing aging population, growing prevalence of chronic diseases, increased healthcare expenditures, and attention on developing technologically advanced suture designs will be significant factors driving the market’s growth. Opportunities in the market are growing with increased research and development investments by some major players to develop antibacterial sutures, bioactive sutures, etc.
Due to increased demand for minimally invasive surgery with low risks, short hospital stays, shorter recovery time, and less pain than invasive surgery, it is expected to hinder the suture market growth. Laparoscopy is the most widely used minimal invasive procedure requiring just one or two small incisions needed for the pelvis and abdomen area, which reduces the use of suture in this procedure. The availability of a wide range of alternative treatments for wound management such as maggot therapy, silver ointment, etc. for non-critical wounds also poses a threat to the global suture market to a certain level.
