Introduction –
An Automatic Tube Cleaning System (ATCS) works around the clock to avoid the formation of deposits in the heat exchanger and condenser tubes installed in industrial settings such as power plants, refineries, commercial hotels, and other related areas.
The regular cleaning of a condenser tube can be done by the means of a ball-type automatic tube cleaning system, or a brush-type automatic tube cleaning system. Therefore, ATCS can be used to reduce the frequency of costly maintenance downtime, while optimizing equipment functions and improving energy efficiency.
The diameter of the sponge ball is slightly larger than the tube, and it is injected into the system at set intervals. Sponge balls wipe the tubes clean and are ensnared at the opening of the heat exchanger, where tubes are collected for the next cleaning cycle.
There is no way to eliminate the problem of deposit accumulation in a central cooling system such as the Ball Tech Energy system. The ball-tech system is a fully automatic, reliable hydraulic-mechanical system with no moving parts that can keep the condenser continuously clean.
The system recovers sponge balls with the help of the condenser tube at programmable intervals of time. These sponge balls collect all deposits on the inner surface of the tube without creating any disturbances in pressure and water flow. The ATCS cleaning process only takes a few seconds to be completed.

Market Dynamics –
The increasing demand for electricity driven by economic recovery is a key factor in accelerating market growth prospects for this industry. In addition, a growing number of automatic tube cleaning systems are now being used in heating, ventilation, and other field areas to improve operational efficiency.
The demand for automatic tube cleaning systems in various industries such as oil & gas, power generation, hotels, etc., has exponentially increased in recent years. Moreover, owing to increasing levels of urbanization, the demand for products such as these is also expected to subsequently increase.
In addition, there are several projects presently being undertaken that would require the services of this sector. Projects such as upcoming desalination initiatives, or even enabling the efficient operation of HVAC systems in various commercial zones such as tech parks, shopping malls, offices, factories, manufacturing plants, etc.
Factors such as these are slated to play a pivotal role in influencing the revenue trajectory of this global industry over the next decade.
A key factor that could potentially limit market growth opportunities for these ATCS (automatic tube cleaning systems) is related to the design limitations of certain automatic tube cleaning systems.
Sometimes, when hot water exits a condenser, it mixes with water that re-enters its chilled water system, thereby reducing the overall efficiency of a chiller. In addition, heat transfer requires additional energy.
Once the cleaning process is complete, these sponge balls are collected in a ‘ball collector’ that includes a filter or screen, which facilitates the water to flow continuously, but prevents the balls from disposed of downstream.
Mechanically-driven clamshell screens were used in the initial designs of ball traps, and are even used to this today. However, these designs are sometimes prone to mechanical failures, resulting in the loss of these sponge balls, thereby reducing condenser efficiency in the process.
